ABOUT THE RED TENT

Work drives everyone mad; from drinking too much coffee and popping out for a cigarette to stress-crocheting and calling on the occasional Ouija board, Ellie, Ash and Rachel do what they can to survive. Alone. Obviously. That is until they find themselves locked in a storage cupboard together. Ét voilà; The Red Tent. A space traditionally reserved for women to menstruate, give birth and share stories, it is reimagined to bring these isolated women together as they grapple with the idea of female friendships and face the question one cannot avoid in claustrophobic circumstances; what now?

ABOUT LAZYLEAF THEATRE COMPANY

At LazyLeaf theatre company, we are hell-bent on keeping joy and spontaneity at the centre of our work by implementing tools of improvisation and devising. We believe that in pulling on the thread of everyday life, we can harvest the whacky, ridiculous and occasionally outrageous elements which are too often overlooked. It’s hidden amongst the piles of unwashed clothes, lost in the delayed trains and sitting at the window, staring out at the rain. We believe it is integral to make space for a bit of fun; after all, they call them plays* for a reason.

*LazyLeaf would like to offer their sincere apologies for this frankly uninspiring pun but to be fair, we aren’t called ThinkReallyHardAboutThingsLeaf.

**The word play in relation to a performance actually originates from the Greek word paizo, meaning, ‘to act.’ Not that anyone asked.
